Brief Summary
The Kingdom of Thailand, known as Siam until 1939, was established in the middle of the 14th century. Siam is noted as being the only Southeast Asian country to avoid European colonization. The country's government is now a constitutional monarchy that holds democratic elections.

Thailand is currently the second largest economy in Southeast Asia. The country has been hugely transformed over the last four decades, moving from a low-income primarily agrarian economy to a higher-income more diversified economy with strong growth and low unemployment. Tourism and the industrial and services sectors are the largest components of the Thai economy.

Serene Siam (1937). Traveltalks by Fitzpatrick Pictures showing life in Bangkok. The accuracy of the facts stated are unknown to me, but the footage is definitely a valuable look into life in Siam!

Old travelogue from 1931. The first three and a half minutes cover Thailand, with the remainder covering other countries in Asia. Again, the accuracy of the facts may be questionable, but the footage is quite a find.
